Blueberries are believed to have one of the highest antioxidant levels of all common fruits and vegetables.

Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage your cells and contribute to aging and diseases.

I love using blueberries in a lot of my breakfast dishes, desserts and smoothies.

In this post, I would like to share a smoothie recipe and a few other ideas where blueberries are a great addition to a dish.

Super energy berry smoothie

1 medjool date, pitted
1 fresh or frozen banana
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
1 tbsp goji berries
2 cups coconut water
2 tbsp açai berry powder (optional)
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
1 Sachet Ringana Antiox (optional)
2 cups ice cubes (leave out if using frozen fruit)

This makes enough for 2


In a blender, combine all the ingredients except the ice. Once it is a nice smooth consistency add the ice as needed.
If it is too thick add some water or coconut water.

  • Overnight oats with papaya and raspberries
  • Chocolate chia pudding with walnuts and hemp seeds 
  • Homemade müsli with pineapple, walnuts, chia pudding, and hemp seeds 
  • Vegan yogurt with homemade granola and berry coulis

There was a time where I found myself in the galley (the kitchen on a boat), polishing blueberries one by one to make them look nice and clean. 👩🏻‍🍳
They were then used more or less as decoration on fruit platters, desserts or for guests to pick on. Now, I just wash them and eat them myself. 😃

To get a real nice shine on them you can toss them with maple syrup and dehydrate on low for about an hour or until they keep the shine. 

One of the great advantages of being a chef on a private superyacht is, that you are able to visit as many fantastic fresh markets as possible throughout the world. 😍
